Providing insight to (de)stress at work

What

During Biofeedback project, our employees learn how to recognize concentration, focus, tension and stress. They learn to link these feelings to where they originate from and discover how they can influence them. The ultimate goal is to learn employees how to have an influence on their job satisfaction.

Why

Some of our employees experience psychosomatic illness. Many of them have a hard time recognizing feelings of tension and/or relaxation. They experience or recognize little influence on their job satisfaction.

How

The device, the Spire, is carried onto the body. It enables measuring breathing patterns. The Spire recognizes if the carrier is calm, concerned or stressed. A signal is being send to the carrier to increase awareness. A mobile app measures the patterns and provides them with insights.

Next step

Amfors is developing a training during which our employees learn to enjoy their work. Employees are able to experience how the Spire can facilitate this process. The training will start at the beginning of 2020.

In the Inclusive Fieldlab, the Spire is also being tested as a tool to increase the levels of calm. In this project we also study the correlation between tension, well-being and absenteeism in the workplace.

Collaboration

Spirit Youth Aid has developed a successful coaching program to reduce stress at the workplace in Amsterdam, together with Garage2020 and with the support of Biofeedback. Because of this, the Inclusive Fieldlab has decided to use this program and adapt it to our target group concerning people with a distance to the labour market.

In this video you can see the experiences of Spirit Youth Aid.
